Michalis Genitsaris(bouzouki) and band in 1941. Genitsaris wrote some of the best songs of this period. Some give a lyrical snapshot of the occupation  including Saltadoros (about stealing gas cans from German trucks), Epidromi Sto Peiraia (the bombing and destruction of the port of Pireaus), Mavragorites (the blackmarketeers), Enas Leventis Esvise (the death of a resistance fighter), and Stelios Kardaras (the execution by the Germans of an 18 year old resistance fighter). Other musicians from the period included Vassilis Tsitsanis, Manolis Hiotis, Nikos Mathesis, Markos Bambakaris, Marika Ninou, Sotira Bellou, and Ioannis Papaioannou.
